Well done to our Year 3 and 4 children, who took part in the mini skills competition. They competed against many other schools and came 1st! Above all, the children represented school so well and they had a super day. Well done.
What a lovely Saturday we had together! With a creation focus to celebrate tomorrow's feast day of St.Francis', we came together in our usual community spirit to do something a little different and quite special to mark this occasion. I must emphasise the huge amount of time and effort (and of course much love) that went into preparing for this event. Our parish council members and parishioners went above and beyond to welcome our community to church and to bring joy to everyone who could come. It was lovely to see so many children doing an outdoor animal hunt and for our community to feel reunited after such time apart.
What a lovely time the children had meeting Ottie the rescue dog with a member of staff from Animal Care, Lancaster. Mr Jones came to teach us about looking after animals and what is what like to have a career in animal care. The visit was part of the stikability side of our half termly topic plans. The children will certainly remember this!
What a lovely treat to have the ice-cream van in school. The sun was shining and all was pleasant then, as the children were lining up excitedly to wait their turn, Mr Gilmour did something that I have never seen him do before-he developed some kind of tunnel vision and he only saw the ice-cream van and the man through the window of the van as he rushed to the front of the line to ask if there were any Fabs! I haven't had a Fab in years but Mr Gilmour obviously is fond enough of the to make the children wait for their ice-cream! A lovely afternoon was had by all-the nursery children seemed to use the ice-creams as messy play but there we are-it was great!
We have had a lovely day ( quite competitive at times) with our Year 6 children vs staff at netball. The Year 6 children are busily getting their photo books signed and they were sensational in yesterday’s leavers assembly. It was a joy to see parents as an audience again and there were certainly smiles and tears.
