A fabulous new school band!
We welcome Mr Brent Warren, who delivers individual music lessons. We offer all brass, woodwind and drum lessons. Our school band rehearses every Friday at 2.15-3.15pm during school time and over a third of our school are members-amazing!
Children in Beacon Class use computer technology to create and manipulate sounds. They all learn to play the keyboard and fairsnape Class all learn to play the ukulele.
Year 5 sing at Bushell House Rest Home
Another Coffee Morning Concert-and this time we raised £110 for Make a Splash!
At St.Francis’ 3/4 of our school play a musical instrument and/or sing in the school choir and play in the school band. Music is such a valuable subject in its own right and can give all children the chance to shine and simply enjoy. Every Friday, children having music lessons play in assembly in front of the school and we sing as a community with parents and visitors. The children perform in many concerts, mainly for charity, and they are given purpose to practice and look forward to playing collaboratively. Children from Reception Class play tuned instruments and we will have a recorder club after the half term break. Children in Beacon Class play the ukulele and are learning some pop songs to play and sing. Fairsnape Class are playing in harmony on the Glockenspiels and are learning notation!
Mr. Severyn teaches curriculum music to all classes once a week and he helps Miss Deakin with the school choir. Mrs Kelly comes in every Friday to teach individual music lessons and lead the school band. We now have two bands, one for juniors and one for infants. They come together fo some performaces.
The children are regular singers and instrumentalists at Family Mass and we look forward to singing in local rest homes and supermarkets.
