Pre-School Consultation

26th March 2016

Following enquiries from families within and outside our school and having undertaken extensive market research, we are now able to consult with you on our plans to open pre-school provision and education at St.Francis’ Catholic Primary School.

Specifically, the proposal is to extend the age range of St.Francis’ Catholic Primary School from 4 – 11 Years to 2 – 11 Years. The proposal has arisen as a result of an increased need for nursery provision in our locality, and in order to offer a high quality educational experience for nursery age children that prepares them well for the Reception class in our school.

As a school, we are registered for Early Years provision with Ofsted and the pre-school would be managed by and maintained by our school. We will have 20 places per session, that being 20 in the morning and 20 in the afternoon, with a qualified teacher and two experienced teaching assistants according to necessary adult to child ratios.

Hill Chapel will be based in the current Year1/2 classroom with new access to a large area for outside provision. Year 2 will be a separate stand alone class in Winter Hill with Reception and Year 1 as a mixed class in the current Reception classroom. This will create an infant department that can work closely together and will enable the pre-school to be separate but with the access to the main school areas as necessary.

The structure of the day for Hill Chapel Pre-School will reflect that of the school and potential fees are in line with other local providers and reflect the high quality staffing and environment. A morning session will run from 9.00-12.00pm. Children can stay for lunch/whole day. The afternoon session will run from 12.30-3.30pm and we can offer breakfast club and after school club as wrap around provision for any families who need this. We anticipate that fees will be £4.00 per hour.

The consultation ends on Friday 24th March 2016. Our governing body will consider any feedback you may wish to offer before making a final recommendation to lower its age range to accommodate a Pre School on site.

With my many thanks for your continued support,
